These classic car clubs are often the best source of information on the cars, particularly if you are thinking of buying a classic.
They can normally provide expert advice on buying cars, what to look for, what to avoid etc. Many of them publish their own regular club magazines which are normally an excellent source of adverts for both the cars and spare parts. |
Club TriumphWith the passing of time and the inevitable turnover of people involved in the Triumph scene I feel it is worthwhile documenting the development of the present organisation. To this end I have prepared this brief resume of our history.
The history of the club starts in 1954 when the Triumph Sports Owners Association (TSOA) was inaugurated by the then Standard Triumph International Company for the growing number of American owners of the successful TR sports car range. The Standard Triumph Automobile Association (STAA) was also formed at this time for owners of other Standard and Triumph cars and this provided the basis for the future structure. Throughout the 1950's and 1960's various local branches were set up throughout the U.K. these being run on an autonomous basis, having their own membership fee and volunteer committee, although acting under the umbrella of the factory "Head Office" STAA and receiving support from the same. Inter-branch communication was carried out centrally by the factory publicity department and took the form of a section in the company magazine "The Standard-Triumph Review". What is now Club Triumph was formed as the STAA North London Branch in 1961. |

Wollongong Morris Minor Car Club IncThe following story was told by Ray Riley, one of the founders of the Wollongong Morris Minor Car Club. It all started back late in 1978 when 1 passed a fellow Morris owner on Mt. Ousley. We stopped at the bottom for a chat. He was from Sydney and heading South. One thing led to another, so 1 invited him home for a drink. After a lengthy conversation about Morries, we started talking about forming a Club. Time passed by quickly and he had to be travelling on. so goodbyes were said and he left. Early the next year, 1979, I met Greg Sadzius, a Wollongong lad, with a common interest in Morris Minors and once again the subject of a Club came up, so before it could fade, we set some wheels in motion. The final step was to have some invitations typed and photocopied which invited the owners of Morris Minors to join us on a run on the 21st of May 1979 to Kangaroo Valley. Meeting at Westfield car park, we would travel down the Princess Highway to Berry, then on to Kangaroo Valley. These we placed on any Morrie's windscreen either of us saw. |

Welcome to the Scottish Vintage Vehicle FederationPublishes an events programme annualy. Membership includes organisation, such as Club, Local Council or other business with an interest in vintage cars. [Scotland, UK]
The Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation was established in November 1973 with the aims of publishing an events programme each year and maintaining a register of competitors. The architect of the SVVF was Tom Sked of Aberdeen and appropriately he was elected its first Chairman. A Calendar of Events, duly published for 1974, contained 17 Events and a similar number of clubs. A Register of those who entered rallies amounted to about 300 people.
Today we have over 110 events, around 100 member bodies and around 6700 enthusiasts on the Register. The objectives of the Federation remain the same - we try to get rally organisers to liaise through us to avoid unnecessary clashes when two nearby events are proposed for the same day. At our Dates Meeting in November we try through discussion and compromise to agree dates which as far as reasonably possible are acceptable to everybody and can therefore be included within our Events Programme. |
